Gauna 491 appeared alongside Gauna 489 and 490. Gauna 489, 490, and 491 all held their Placenta in the shape of a Guardian, something unheard of up until that point. Tellingly, all three Gauna had marked their Placenta with the Guardian Unit Marking 702 - Hoshijiro's unit number. Floating outside units 489, 490, and 491's placental cockpits were placental humans, mimicing the shape of Guardian pilots. When Samari's unit attacked Gauna 489 with a Heigus Particle Cannon, it even made sounds of pain over the Guardian's common communication band ... using Hoshijiro's communication frequency.

Fight with Kunato Unit

Gauna 491 is the second Gauna to use a Hyggs Particle Cannon. Located in the same general area as a Gaurdian's particle cannon - situated as a beak-like head on the Guardian - it damages En Honoka's Guardian. Nagate cuts the placental human away from Gauna 491 before Kunato impales it with a Kabizashi, dissolving the Gauna into foam.
