The Type 19 Prototype Garde (一九式衛人試作機 Ichikyuu-shiki Morito Shisakuki) first appears in Chapter 29. It is piloted by Nagate Tanikaze to destroy the Lem System colonists' ship, which had fallen prey to the Gauna. Originally designed to be piloted by Samari, her illness forced Nagate to pilot the prototype.
Featuring an improved engine and much stronger armor, it was able to shrug off shots from the Lem Colonist Gauna that destroyed Type 18 Gardes. Though its primary engine was destroyed, its leg thrusters were faster than the Type 18 Guardian main thrusters, and with its main thruster it was able to outrun a four-unit clasp formation.
After a new Type 17 Guardian was deployed for Nagate, the Type 19 Prototype was piloted by Samari in the battle against the Small Mass Union Ship Ocarina.
